SEAL Aviation Has Donor Ailerons to Keep Your Learjet In Service During Maintenance

Gaining access to the internal structure of the ailerons
Once the ailerons have been removed from the aircraft, the technicians must gain access to the internal structure of the ailerons. The leading edge skins need to be removed so that the structure can be visually inspected for corrosion. Once the balance weights have been removed, Eddy Current testing is required along the bracket edges and front leading edge spar. If corrosion is identified, the repair is conducted in conjunction with Bombardier Engineering.

The brackets of the ailerons need to be inspected for damage and blockages. The existing drain holes are inspected to ensure there are no blockages. Additional new drainage is then unsealed to allow for proper drainage and to prevent future corrosion issues. Once the drain holes have been addressed, the skins must be fay sealed with 890 Class B sealant.
