Piper Aircraft Inc makes SB1345 mandatory

Main wing spar bolt holes require an eddy current inspection to be performed upon the next scheduled maintenance event.

Piper Aircraft Inc released Service Bulletin 1345 on March 27, 2020 requiring an Eddy Current inspection on the main spar bolt holes to be performed by a certified NAS 410 level II or level III NDT technician. The objective of Piper Service Bulletin 1345 is to locate fatigue cracks in high-time and high-load aircraft. This service bulletin mandates a one-time inspection upon reaching 5,000 hours time in service of the affected aircraft for cracks at specific bolt hole locations in the main wing spars, followed by reporting the findings to Piper, regardless of the results.
