Gulfstream G280 owners with serial numbers 2001-2189 will be required to comply with Service Bulletin 280-57-277 "Cold Working of Holes in Lower Skin Stringer 3 Common to Outboard Feed Tank Lower Bracket". This Service Bulletin calls for an inspection of the stringer around the three fastener holes and the stringer at the lower outboard end of the feeder tank for cracks. If no cracks are found, cold work is to be performed on the holes.

This Service Bulletin has been issued in response to Gulfstream discovering 'the design was found to be insufficiently fatigue resistant, concentrated around three holes'. It is recommended that this task be accomplished concurrently with SB 280-57-182 "Wings - Enlarging Corner Holes on Feed Tank Bracket".

Service Bulletin 200-57-426 Wing Flaps Fairing Seal Repair addresses flap fairing debonding and moisture intrusion that might lead to lower wing skin corrosion, cracking on both wings and reduced structural integrity of the wings. This Service Bulletin requires G200 aircraft to have corrosion removed on certain areas of the lower skin on both wings. Once the corrosion has been removed, the fairings are then resealed with fillet sealant and the area is then inspected by a Non-destructive Testing Technician.

The SEAL Aviation Structural Repair Team can remove any identified corrosion in coordination with the Fuel Leak Repair Technicians to reseal the fairings. Radiography is one of the most commonly used Non-Destructive testing methods used in the aviation industry. SEAL Aviation Radiography Services uses x-ray technology to inspect aircraft and aircraft components for hidden defects, alongside other commonly applied methods of NDT.

Radiography in aviation can be used to verify damage on suspect areas without the need to remove the component being inspected. In many instances, NDT Technicians can employ x-ray technology to determine if structural damage exists, which can save the customer man-hours and cost.

SEAL Aviation was called out to identify a fuel leak from the tail section of a Citation 560 near a ventilation duct. A local A&P mechanic was originally called out by the customer but they could not locate the source of the leak. The customer then called upon the experience and knowledge of SEAL Aviation to assist in identifying and repairing this leak. The first step was to access the area and provide a thorough inspection to identify the source of the leak.

Upon inspection, SEAL Aviation was able to determine this particular leak was caused by chaffing from contact between scat tubing and the motive flow jet pump line. Over time, this contact caused the fuel line to eventually leak. You can see in the video below how slow this particular leak was.

As you can see in the following picture, the chaffing from this friction caused a visible indent to the scat tubing that the fuel line was in contact with. Over time, this friction caused the fuel line to leak. This is why it is important to ensure there is adequate spacing around individual components. SEAL Aviation was able to repair the line and stop the leak.
